Training and Research in Mental Health Practices
The Video Analysis Tool (VAT) is completely web-based. That is, people upload video from the field and the analysis is conducted through a web browser. Your data is secure and accessible. Feedback is made available quickly -- even on demand.

There are multiple applications to support training for mental health interventions including:
  • Assess the fidelity of implementation: Practitioners and trainees upload videos directly from the field to avoid mailing tapes and DVDs.
  • Measure progress in learning and skills: Provide access to videos for training participants to code, then provide them feedback.
  • Increase credibility of supervisors: Review the assessments conducted by supervisors of field placements and provide feedback about accuracy.
  • Use your instruments: You can upload diagnostics and assessment instruments specific to the training.
  • Assurance of security: Tapes do not get lost in the mail or open for others to view, all data is securely stored in accounts only you can access.
The Video Analysis Tool (VAT) can also support research in mental health interventions including:
  • Validity and reliability testing of assessment instruments -- including interrater reliability.
  • Multiple users coding the same video data set with the same schema or instrument.
  • Multiple users coding different videos with multiple instruments.
  • Export all of your data for further analysis.

Researchers are able to capture video without being in the room. Events can even be captured and coded live as the events take place. Installing Internet Protocol (IP) cameras a researcher can capture events at distant locations -- all the is needed is an Internet connection (no computer needed!)
